The bashraf is an Ottoman musical instrumental form that was popular in Turkey, the Near East, and North Africa. The bashraf consists of four sections, each followed by the same melodic section known as taslīm. The bashraf typically follows a single rhythmic cycle throughout; however, in this case, composer Issa Boulos added a distinct 7/8 rhythm to the fourth section.
