The longa is a Turkish instrumental musical form that is characterized by its long, extended structure. Longas consist of multiple movements or sections, typically four or more.  These movements, known as hâne (khana in Arabic), are usually built upon a specific maqam (makam) or modal system and feature distinct melodic and rhythmic patterns.  Longas are considered a significant part of the Turkish classical music repertoire, as they showcase the technical and improvisational skills of the performers.  The naming of each piece follows a particular protocol; in this case, form (long), name of maqam (Nikriz), and the first or last name of the composer (Boulos).
